Today I attended the first day of Quantified Self 2018. According to the Quantified Self Institute, “Quantified Self (QS) is the term that embodies self-knowledge through self-tracking”. Along with Self Experimentation (SE), analysis, and behavior modification, QS can be a very powerful tool for personal change and enhancement.
The conference so far has been amazing, but it is like drinking from Niagra Falls. There is way too much good stuff. I took about 10 pages of notes today and I know that those notes will be the basis for new ideas and techniques and for many future posts on L.A.R.
A big part of today’s conference were Show and Tell sessions where speakers have 7-10 minutes to explain an experiment or set of observations they have completed. The topics ranged from health, to productivity, and sports performance.
Speakers were asked to present:
- What did you do?
- How did you do it?
- What did you learn?
Speakers were not asked the very important question: What does it mean? That was left for the conference attendees to ponder.
I will share the interesting things I learned from these presentations in up coming posts.
Stay Tuned.
For now I need to get some sleep. I have another big day of conference sessions tomorrow.
